Jori Hoffer

Graduate Art + Clinical Therapy Intern - Under the clinical supervision of Kimberly Randall

EXPERIENCE

Jori is currently completing a dual Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling at Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She brings a creative, relational, and person-centered approach to her work, believing that art can be a powerful tool for emotional expression, self-discovery, and healing. Through her recent Art Therapy internship, Jori has facilitated individual and group sessions, conducted intake and art-based assessments, developed trauma-informed treatment plans, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support client growth and well-being.

Prior to entering the mental health field, Jori spent several years teaching English and Kindergarten students in Thailand, South Korea, and Colombia. These experiences strengthened her ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, adapt to varying needs, and create safe, supportive environments that encourage self-expression and emotional growth. Alongside her clinical training, Jori maintains an active art practice as a professional artist and studio owner, using creativity as both a personal and therapeutic means of reflection and meaning-making.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE

Jori is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling at Southwestern College. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Viterbo University. Jori is completing her graduate internship under the supervision of Kimberly Randall and is actively providing mental health therapy services. Jori is working to be TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) certified and is committed to ongoing professional development.

SPECIALTY AREAS

Jori works from a strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed perspective. She has a particular interest in supporting children and adolescents and enjoys incorporating creative and expressive interventions into the therapeutic process. Her clinical experience includes facilitating individual art therapy sessions, conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and helping clients build emotional awareness, coping skills, resilience, and self-expression through both traditional counseling and art-based approaches.

WHY THE MENTAL HEALTH FIELD?

Jori was drawn to the mental health field through her passion for creativity, human connection, and helping others navigate life’s challenges. She believes that everyone deserves a safe space to explore their experiences, emotions, and strengths. Her work in education, art, and counseling has reinforced her belief that healing often begins when individuals feel seen, heard, and supported. She is especially passionate about the role creativity can play in fostering insight, resilience, and personal growth.

PERSONAL

Outside of her clinical work, Jori enjoys creating and exhibiting artwork, exploring new creative processes, and engaging with her local arts community. Her artwork has been featured in numerous regional exhibitions, and she has received recognition including the Best Artist Award at the Mount Horeb Annual Art Fair and Second Place in the Wisconsin ArtsWest 43 Art Exhibit. She values lifelong learning, meaningful connections, and finding creative ways to bring people together.
