EXPERIENCE

Recently relocating to Rice Lake from Brighton, Colorado, Kathleen brings years of experience working in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. Before moving to Rice Lake, she served as a Rehabilitation Art Therapist at Napa State Hospital, where she supported individuals in a forensic psychiatric environment. Kathleen also worked at Centennial Peaks Psychiatric Hospital in Colorado, providing therapeutic services to both inpatient and outpatient clients. In addition, Kathleen has experience offering online therapy, demonstrating her dedication to providing accessible and flexible mental health care.

EDUCATION

Kathleen is a compassionate and skilled Art Therapist with a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. She is a certified Art Therapy Registered (ATR) professional, committed to using creative expression to promote healing and well-being. 

SPECIALTY AREAS

Kathleen’s approach to art therapy is holistic, drawing from a diverse background in music, dance, and drama therapies. She specializes in using creative outlets, including watercolor painting (her personal favorite medium), to help clients express and process their emotions. While watercolor painting holds a special place in her heart, Kathleen recognizes the importance of all art mediums and techniques in the therapeutic process. She often incorporates movement and music when appropriate to offer a well-rounded therapeutic experience. 

WHY THE MENTAL HEALTH FIELD?

Kathleen is deeply passionate about the therapeutic power of art. Her empathy and dedication to helping others led her to the mental health field, where she uses creativity to help clients overcome emotional challenges. Her goal is to continue making a positive impact in the Rice Lake community and beyond. 

PERSONAL

Outside of her work, Kathleen enjoys hiking, reading, dancing, singing, and traveling. She treasures spending time with her husband and their cats, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. 

AVAILABILITY

Kathleen is currently part-time and sees clients on Monday and Wednesday. Kathleen prefers to see clients in office due to the amount of art supplies utilized in sessions.
