Calista provides supervised visits to families in our area while also working in our Service Array Programming. Calista loves offering any type of service to adolescents, adults, and families. She has a passion for helping people recover and get better with substance abuse, emotional regulation, personal growth, self-esteem, positive body image, and more. She strives to be a healthy support in individual’s lives.
Calista has experience as an SEL support to students who struggled in classes or certain academics. Calisa has also worked with students and children to make sure they are on track and following through with their IEPs. Calista has worked with many children who were above their academic level & also falling behind. In working with all of these it is important to Calista to let children know that whether they excel or fall behind, that they are unique in their own learning, and that everyone moves at a different pace.
Calista enjoys using the “little spot of emotions” book. Calista loves talking about the worry emotion. She feels many children feel as if they are always supposed to be happy & feel they will be thought of differently if they feel worried, anxious, lonely or sad. Calista understands it is harder for children to express their feelings and loves working with children on their different emotions. She wants children to know their feelings are always valid and it’s important to feel them and to know why we feel them.
Calista is enthusiastic to raise awareness and help others who struggle with eating disorders, self-esteem and poor body image. Calista has experienced her own struggles with negative self-talk, and poor body image throughout high school and her early college years. Calista has worked hard to understand proper nutrition, physical activity regimes, and how to appropriately fuel her body for health and mental clarity. One of the tools Calista uses in her sessions is the Body Positivity Journal. The Body Positivity Journal focuses on releasing negative energy towards one’s body image through journaling. Calisa utilizes this as a tool to assist her clients in understanding emotions and overcoming the barriers that hold them back from unconditionally loving themselves. Calisa says, "I really love to help those in similar situations because after going through it myself, I know there is a way to love food and ourselves."
Calista has experienced watching some family members struggle with mental health and substance abuse. She has always had such a strong passion for wanting to help people and supporting them in their personal growth. She also believes that for anybody, no matter the struggles they face, whether it be big or small are so important to address and get direction with. Additionally, Calista has also struggled with mental health herself, so having someone to trust in what you are telling them is important. She feels her calling in life is to work directly with people to get them through their hardships and encourage them to keep working hard. She enjoys watching people become the best versions of themselves, and it brings her joy in knowing she is part of their journey.
Calista has been accepted into the master's program for Clinical Mental Health at Walden University.
Outside of work you could find Calista working out, relaxing, and spending time with her family and friends.
